Further north you arrive at Aviemore. Aviemore is a major holiday resort surrounded by stunning scenery.
This popular town is a year-round destination with a wide range of winter and summer activities to choose from. Aviemore supports one of the country’s top ski areas and is an excellent base for exploring the Cairngorms National Park, covering the mountains, Glenmore, Rothiemurchus Forest and the wider areas Badenoch and Strathspey.
Heading south of Newtonmore you can explore some amazing scenery and destinations. For the mountain bike enthusiast we highly recommend a visit to Laggan Wolftrax.
Travelling further south you can venture towards Fort William, en route you will pass Nevis Range, an all year round mountain and ski resort. Nevis Range boasts Britain’s only mountain gondola which transports you 650 meters to the slopes of Aonach Mor where you can meander along the trails and take in the breathtaking scenery.
Fort William’s setting is dramatic, on the shore of Loch Linnhe, and under the mighty hulk of Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. There is a footpath to the top of the mountain starting close to the town.
